In the Game

Well guys…. Spring is rounding the corner. It gets me so excited thinking about running around barefoot, wearing shorts (yes, my crowd, we ride our horses in our shorts sometimes), and enjoying the Minnesota beauty! All winter long we ride outside, Carhartt and Under Armor up to our eyeballs, clunky winter boots, and wooly warm hats for 7 months. Not the best look for the grocery store on the way home. So I get a little extra zip in my step thinking about the spring and summer months ahead. Spring always makes me think about my growing up years and how much time I spent running, training, practicing to get ready for participating in all my sports (which of course I did year around…we’ll talk about excessiveness another time). Basketball and soccer were my two favorites to play. I loved playing team sports! But early on in my younger years, … Continue Reading

TROUBLED WATERS

Howdy Gang…..I Just have a little nugget of encouragement to share with you all…..

Mark 6:45-52 is the chapter about Jesus walking on the water. This is a great passage to remind us that our Lord and Savior is always present and working on our behalf. (Side Note: Interestingly, this follows the great miracle of the feeding of the 5000 men and their families. Showing us that even as disciples walking physically everyday with the Lord, they had growing to do!) Jumping ahead, Jesus departs up into the hills to pray while the disciples take the boat to cross the lake to Gennesaret. The scripture continues and tells us that Jesus SAW the disciples struggling in a BIG STORM. It goes on to tell us that Jesus, clearly moved by their struggle, came walking on the water toward them. The bible tells us they were terrified. It also … Continue Reading

Transformed

Romans 12:1-2

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies (dedicating ALL OF YOURSELVES, SET APART) as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rationale (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world (any longer with its superficial values and customs), but be TRANSFORMED and PROGRESSIVELY changed (as you mature spiritually) by the renewing of your MIND (focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes), so that you may prove (for yourselves) what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (in HIS PLAN AND PURPOSE FOR YOU).”

What a plethora of nuggets that fill these scriptures! Wow there is so much to pull from here, but I’d like to just focus in on a couple things.

Now, notice the last few words of this ….. … Continue Reading

20/20 Vision

Happy New Year Everyone!!! What a beautiful Christmas season it was celebrating our Saviors birth!! I have such excitement for the year of 2020!! God has stirred in me such anticipation for this year!! I sense a strong drive of the Holy Spirit in the direction of our “witness” of Jesus in the earth! What I mean by “witness” is that the authentic Church, the true representatives of Jesus Christ (not churchy people and programs) is going to be recognized by their fruit!! The Bible teaches us that “they’ll know us by our fruit”. Remember… “fruit” refers to christian character (Love, joy, peace, etc…) and WE are “AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST” (2 Corinthians 5:20) reflecting the same character and virtues that our heavenly Father does!

With that said, I wanted to share a few words on Vision. Now, ya’ll know I like to keep things simple so thats what … Continue Reading

Doing Life Together

Happy Holiday season everyone!! What a beautiful time of the year!! This time of the year causes us to be very “relationship conscious”. What I mean by this is that through Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, as well as Valentine’s Day we are continually reminded of our relationships. Good, bad, and indifferent. When we think of this time of year we think about “giving” (hopefully), bringing love, joy, and kindness to our loved ones! Man’s greatest need ….. relationships! With this in mind, let’s talk about the crux of relationships.

Definition of Crux- “The most important issue….

Let’s start with this…. What is the most important issue in our relationships? There is probably many different things we could say about this subject but let’s NEVER FORGET the MOST IMPORTANT issue….. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS WITHOUT CONVERSATION!! I think we would all agree that conversation … Continue Reading

Cave Dwellers

Howdy Gang…. Hope your November finds you THANKFUL!!! My heart is so full of gratitude for all my Heavenly Father does and is to me!!!

So I’ve been reading in the book of 1 Samuel….. again…. and it’s interesting each and every time I revisit a passage the different things I pull out and learn! It just seems to be endless the revelation we can get each and every time we read!! Love it…..

Anyway, 1 Samuel 22 is the passage where David has been on the run from King Saul. Remember King Saul is out to kill David…. pretty much over pride and insecurity! (That is a whole other message). The chapter begins with David “escaping” to the “cave” of Adullam. While there, “others began joining him …..his brothers, all his relatives. Verse 2 says “Then others began coming – men who were in trouble or in debt or … Continue Reading

For Your Own Good

1 Corinthians 9:25-27 “All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.”

Paul’s words here to us stress the necessity of self discipline, and self denial in order to grow and mature as Christians. Our Christian “LIBERTIES” have limits! God has certain expectations of us as his children. Just like we have certain expectations with our own children. In verse 27 Paul speaks of disciplining his body “like an athlete”, another translation says it this way… “I discipline my body and bring it into subjection”! Notice it says I discipline my body like … Continue Reading

Blind Eye?

The book of Amos….most have never read this old testament book of the Bible but let’s take a quick look at what this “great prophet” has to say!

It is funny, this “great prophet” of God, who God clearly deemed as significant enough to write the holy word of God, was just a farmer. Yep, he did not come from a “big family name”, nor a family of prophets, nor did he even consider himself a prophet. Rather, he considered himself just a farmer “who takes care of the sycamore-fig trees”. God called him from a quiet shepherds life to travel and carry a strong message of judgment to the people of Israel. While most of the prophets spoke of redemption and restoration, Amos was compelled to call out his fellow believers on their lack of christlikeness. Amos was a man that lived a “simple life” (I’ll refrain from a … Continue Reading

No Way Out

Ever feel PRESSED against a wall? Ever feel trapped, stuck, hopelessly closed in? Well, if you do, trust me most of us have experienced this!! We tend to find ourselves in these places from time to time. But, take heart….God always has a way of escape (1 Corithians 10:13)….even when it APPEARS otherwise!!!

In the book of Exodus chapter 14, God is speaking to Moses at the Red Sea as the Israelites are hopelessly trapped (closed in on every side) running from Pharaoh and his army. As you read this passage it is very important to read verses 1-4 carefully. “Then the Lord gave these instructions to Moses: Order the Israelites to turn back and camp by Pi-hahiroth between Migdol and the sea. Camp there along the shore, across from Baalzephon. Then Pharaoh will think, “The Israelites are confused. They are TRAPPED in the wilderness! And once again I will … Continue Reading

Are you using your SWORD?

Are you using your SWORD??

That’s the question of the day! Ya know, sometimes we can get so focused on filling up on the truth’s of God’s word that we completely take ourselves out of the game when it comes to actually APPLYING those truths!!

Here’s what I mean guys….. picture this….. you need to dig a hole….you go get the “tool” (shovel) to get the job done. You make sure you pick the right kind of shovel as there are many. For instance, you don’t choose a flat headed shovel, or a tiny little hand held garden shovel. You choose the spade shovel because you know that this is the tool that will accomplish the task!! This will dig the hole. Now, if we just walked over to the designated area and just stood there, staring at the ground, waiting, shovel in hand but never started shoveling…..guess what? … Continue Reading
