Mining

Mining …. Makes you think of treasures, hidden artifacts, digging up the unknown for answers, hidden things that can change our lives! But let’s stop and think about what a miners job is… what that might look like. A miners job is to DIG… dig for sources that are beneath the surface….that are not in plain sight… deeper than the familiar on the surface. We too, are called to be miners!! We are to mine for the treasures of God! We are not to quickly go through our devotional time, skim through our familiar or even not so familiar scriptures and waltz through our day! We are to thoroughly familiarize ourselves with the word of God! Remember the word of God is our armor, our sword in this battle with satan!!! So this is not a casual read… There is a digging, there is an effort that … Continue Reading

Stories

Stories… We all have them! You know, those stories that run like a movie reel threw your mind over and over and over. Those stories that MAGNIFY when you’ve been done wrong, when someone’s been unkind to you, when someone’s treated you unfairly, when someone speaks untruths about you or gossips about you! Our human tendency is to let that story reel through our minds over and over hyping up how it makes us feel, how we would respond, and more than likely how we would retaliate back! You see, the Bible teaches us NOT to think on these things… The stories that envelop our attention and our time play perfectly into the enemies evil scheming! The Bible actually tells us exactly what to think in Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things areContinue Reading

SPRINGTIME

Hope everyone has weathered (no pun intended)  the frozen tundra well these last handful of weeks! Brrrr a little chilly in Minnesota, but even chillier in Belt, Montana where I visited my wonderful friends at BIG SHOE RANCH (-25 was about the average). But, smile and get ready…. it looks like spring is rounding the corner! Oh thank you Jesus!!

With spring on the way it should always remind us of a new season approaching, a new beginning, an opportunity to do some things that we normally can’t because of circumstances (like our cold winters). When we come into a “new season” we can take a look back and perhaps see the long tough haul it might have been. Maybe you’ve felt trapped, unable to pursue things you love. Maybe you’ve felt stalled, sitting like Jonah was in the belly of the whale. Maybe you simply have felt frozen in … Continue Reading

Consecration

Happy New Year Everyone!!! It’s gonna be an amazing 2021 …. I sense it in my whole being!!! With 2020 in our rearview mirror…. yay!! I clearly see that God has used this past year as a “preparation year” for those that are serious about Him!! With that said, let’s study a little on being “set apart”!
Consecration… To most it’s a scary word! It represents a “giving up” of things, it means a moving “into” or an “embracing” of things…and It definitely means some serious stretching! Let’s define the word consecration according to the word of God. Romans 12:1, “ Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies (DEDICATING ALL OF YOURSELVES, set apart) as a LIVING SACRIFICE, holy and well pleasing to God, which is your rational, reasonable, logical, intelligent act of worship.” Well, that can take us in … Continue Reading

Ripe or Rotten?

In Matthew chapter 7 Jesus is speaking to His disciples and the multitudes ….. Verses 15 through 20 speaks about “fruit” …”You’ll know them by their fruit”. Who’s “them”? The answer to that is those who follow Him!! Christians.

Many of you are very familiar with this passage and many of you know I talk quite frequently about the fruit of our lives…. our character, our behavior, our attitudes. Mark 11:12-25 is a section of Scripture where Jesus declares he is “hungry”, sees a fig tree, goes to it… And in recognizing there were leaves but no fruit…..he curses that fig tree. What’s the point?

So as usual, let’s do some self examination….. let’s ask ourselves with honest hearts…. do I have Godly fruit or do I just have leaves that RESEMBLE a fruitful tree??  Ya see, it’s really easy to go to a Bible study, be in a prayer group, … Continue Reading

Decision Time

Howdy Everyone! I pray you all are staying healthy and safe during this unsettled time going into our election of 2020!

I usually like to paint a picture when I teach so I am going to share a picture I’ve been seeing in my heart for some time now. While I was growing up I had a friend that lived just down the street from me and one of our favorite things to do was to climb up onto this wood fence that ran along our road and see who could walk the farthest without falling off. Now, she usually won because she was an amazing gymnast but we both would always get up there and because we regularly played this game we both learned to make it the whole length of the fence line! As I reflect on that fence….walking, balancing with our hands stretched out, we’d always come … Continue Reading

A FRESH LOOK AT PSALM 23

Howdy ya’ll…..just want to share a little something I came across from my archives…..

The Lord is my Shepherd…..That’s RELATIONSHIP! I shall not want…..That’s SUPPLY! He maketh me lie down in green pastures…..That’s REST!! He leadeth me beside the still waters….That’s REFRESHMENT!! He restoreth my soul….That’s HEALING!! He Leadeth me down the path of righteousness….That’s GUIDANCE!! For His name sake….That’s PURPOSE!! Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…That’s TESTING!! I will fear no evil…That’s PROTECTION!! Thou art with me….That’s HIS FAITHFULNESS!! Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me….That’s DISCIPLINE!! Thou preparest a table before me in thy presence of thy enemies…That’s HOPE!! Thou anoint my head with oil….That’s CONSECRATION!! My cup runneth over….That’s ABUNDANCE!! Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life….That’s BLESSING!! And … Continue Reading

ARE YOU BRAVE?

“The presence of a BRAVE man in the hour of danger is a very great comfort to his companions.” ARE YOU BRAVE??

Wherever we are placed, wherever we find ourselves in the journey of life…we are to have courage, we are to be led by the Holy Spirit, and we are to be strengthened by KNOWING our God!!! How do we find this courage, how do we find this strengthening and leading? The only way we can be of good courage and render encouragement to others is to be strong ourselves!!! We are called to “be of good courage” and ignite that hope and courage in others!! The apostle Paul is quoted as saying…“I believe God”. It does not say I believe IN God. There’s a clear difference!!! Remember, the devil and his cohorts believe in God to. It’s the “believing”, the “trusting”, the “knowing” God that … Continue Reading

Where in the World??

Howdy guys!!!! Hope all of you have been well and enjoying your summer, unusual as it is.

So, I just wanted to throw out a little reminder about our position as christians in this very different season of life we find ourselves in. I’ve been hearing and seeing A LOT of conversation about the government, politics, the election, “conspiracy theories”, Covid19, the vaccine, deceit and lies from every angle possible. I’m so over it and you should be to!!! PUT DOWN YOUR PHONES, GET OFF YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA, STEP AWAY FROM THE TV and GET FOCUSED!!!! Stop talking about all the “junk” and “fear” and “chaos”!! “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks”!! What has filled your soul lately?? Are you talking about the things of God or constantly talking about what “they” (whoever they are) the media, the experts, the professionals are saying?? Here’s the deal……we, … Continue Reading

The “STOPS” of the Lord

Just a note of encouragement …….

Psalm 37:23 “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delights in his way”. This verse is a rah-rah verse! We grab hold of it and speak it out loud and by faith expect to see God come through. We, for some reason think, “Well, I’m saved by the Grace of God and now I will skip right along into my destiny!! I picture kind of like the yellow brick road in the Wizard of Oz! “Just follow the yellow brick road” (just follow the Holy Spirit). But here’s a thought you might want to ponder…..God DOES order our steps as we have made Him our Lord and Savior. He indeed leads us down our own individual paths for our distinct callings…..but God not only orders our steps ….. He lovingly orders our STOPS as well!! Along our journey … Continue Reading
