Overtaken by Blessings

Luke Chapter 15 starting in verse 11 is the story of the prodigal son. Now, when most christians hear that passage mentioned they immediately think of the rebellious son who took his inheritance and arrogantly headed for the hills. What I’d like to take time to focus on is the other brother. Ya, the one most ignore! Most skim right over the older brother and his story. Let’s take a quick look and see what we can pull from the scriptures.

So, let’s set the stage….we know the younger son took his stuff  and headed to a far off land where he wasted all of his inheritance on prodigal living. The word prodigal is defined as being “given to reckless living, wasteful, and immoral behavior.”  It’s always so easy to point out the OBVIOUS sins of others isn’t it? So we know that the younger boy was flat out … Continue Reading

Get in the Boat!!

Matthew 14: 13-27 was the subject of our teaching for our last Women’s Ministry RISE UP meeting.  I’d like to share a few things on this message to inspire us to Rise Up and come together for God’s plan.

In reading through Matthew chapter 14 where Jesus feeds the 5000, most of you have most likely heard of this passage in the Bible, the great provision miracle,  but I would like to expound a little bit further as we read through the rest of the chapter. Let’s take a look at this passage starting in verse 16 where Jesus tells the disciples to feed the multitude with the five loaves and two fishes. After feeding the 5000, the disciples picked up the leftovers and filled up 12 baskets full. Side note….there was MORE THAN ENOUGH! Imagine the physical evidence of a huge miracle right before your eyes because that’s exactly … Continue Reading

Fully Convinced

How often will a child, FULLY CONVINCED of his or her Father’s greatness say, “My daddy can do anything”! How true that is!! As a child you feel NO ONE and NOTHING is bigger, badder, and more powerful than my dad!! How true that is with our Heavenly Father as well! As our growth of WHO HE IS TO US increases, our growth in our AWARENESS of His GREATNESS explodes!!!  THERE’S A CONFIDENCE BIRTHED!!

I am currently sitting at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. My husband, Rich had a successful laminectomy surgery this morning. When they roled  him away to the operating room ….instead of sitting in a VERY packed, noisy waiting room for a 4 1/2 hour process… I went roaming. I found myself heading down a hall and began to see signs for the “chapel”…… I needed some quiet and thought that is the spot! Now the … Continue Reading

Who’s Birthday??

Christmas time….Jesus birth!

I think sometimes we get into this time of year and because of the hustle and bustle of “the season”, Jesus birthday, things get busy, life’s pace picks up, and somehow people just lose sight of what the focus really should be.

Now, obviously, the crowd I’m speaking to knows that Christmas is about the birth of our Lord and Savior. But I would like to point out something that seems so simple, but yet shines a light on perhaps a forgotten “obvious”.

I recently received a gift from a very special friend for Christmas. In addition to the gift was a written letter from Jesus to us. As I read, I came to a screeching halt. There was one line that caused me to begin to cry. My heart sank. There was so much truth in this one line that I truly stopped and … Continue Reading

Fierce Apprehension

As I read this morning and reflect on things, the many “obstacles” that I’ve been encountering in the past month, I am stirred at the boundless, limitless power of our Heavenly Father!!

In the past few months our RISE UP women’s meetings have been gaining great momentum in the fierce apprehension of God’s LOVE AND PROVISION for His children!! We, actually our incredible Afton, has taken it upon herself to manage our emailing prayer request/victory reports, and God is “Wowing” us!! As fast as the prayer requests come in….the email goes out….the “lionesses” join together in a FIERCE stance against the enemy! Even now, as I write this I received a call about a complete MIRACLE!! Glory to God!! We stand not as timid, hopeful, wounded women, but as FIERCE AND FEARLESS for the “territory” God has so graciously endowed us with!! That territory is our circle of family, … Continue Reading

Wild Hogs

Hope everyone’s Thanksgiving left them thankful!!

In our women’s meetings that we have once a month, Rise Up, we have been examining the Lioness, the Lion, and the pride as a whole. As we have dug into this subject in it’s many facets we have begun to understand the imperative importance of the roles of each and the importance of the pride together!! With this in mind, this little nugget came to life for me so I thought I’d share.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend we had the opportunity to spend time with our beautiful friends from Texas. We always spend a fun-filled, definitely laughter-filled, time chatting and catching up on our families and life.  As we talked and caught up something they shared triggered a truth that I think is vital in our walk with God to understand! I’d like to try to paint a picture to help … Continue Reading

Thankfulness and Joy

Thankfulness and Joy…. they go together like peanut butter and jelly…like bees and honey….like husband and wife. It’s just a given. Right?? Or maybe not so much….

Let’s do a little self examination….I know ya’ll love that. Going into this Thanksgiving season….. ask yourself, “Am I Thankful?” No, I mean really ask your self and be truly honest with yourself ….. “AM I THANKFUL?”  Ya see, if (when) we are deeply thankful for all God has done, all He provides daily, all His Grace, and Mercy EVERYDAY….then ……shouldn’t our appearance (countenance) show it?? What do I mean by appearance? What I mean is this….. ask yourself….”Do people see JOY, LIGHT HEARTEDNESS, A SKIP IN YOUR STEP, A GLIMMER IN YOUR EYES, do they see that someone that is just always happy???  OR……. do they SEE (catch that guys….see….like visually) a hum-drum, poor-me, look at … Continue Reading

Using Your Talents

Matthew 25:14-30 is the passage of the parable of the talents. There is so much depth in this passage that I will do my best to refrain from rabbit trails and stick to the nugget I want to share.

Keep in mind this is a parable….so understand God and you are in this picture.

The parable is about a man (God) who calls His servants (that’s us folks) together and rations out his goods (gifts). There’s three servants. The first two servants go use their talents (gifts-money in this passage), and in using their talents their livelihood expands and multiplies twice from what the Man first gave them! Think about how awesome this is…..HE has the talents ….HE gives them to YOU….and all you have to do is USE THEM!!! Man, we sure can complicate things sometimes!!  If we step out and use the gifts God has given … Continue Reading

Potter’s Wheel

Jeremiah 18:1-6

“The Lord gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, Go down to the POTTER’S SHOP, and I will speak to you there. So I did as He told me and found the POTTER working at HIS wheel. But the jar HE was making did not turn out as HE had hoped, so HE crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over. Then the Lord gave me this message: O Israel, can I not do to you as this POTTER has done to HIS clay? As the CLAY is in the POTTERS hand, so are you in MY hand”

So let’s take a look at this passage.  Understand the POTTER is God. The scripture tells us the POTTER “God” was working at HIS wheel NOT JUST ANY OL’ WHEEL. Now, the Potter (God) was not satisfied that the “jar” (that’s us folks) wasn’t turning out quite … Continue Reading

The Obscure Life

Hey Gang….this nugget will be short and sweet…but very crucial to our growth in God!

So I have been having quite the time studying the life of Elijah! There’s always so much to learn from the lives and journeys of the men and women of the Bible! So with that said,  I would like to share a little somethin’ with you that I think God would really like us all to understand!

I recently have been reading (again) in the word of God about Elijah’s life as a prophet and how God trained him and used him.  Along with the scriptures,  I have been reading a book, “Elijah, a Man of Heroism and Humility” by Chuck (Charles) Swindoll. This is an amazing read…..I’ve read this book before, actually I’ve read his whole series on the “Great lives from God’s word”. Check them out….amazing wisdom for the building of character!! But, … Continue Reading
