Who’s calling the shots?

Just a little something I’ve been picking up on lately….
It has been quite a journey and wealth of revelation this past year for our family. Though we have had some times of sadness and very hard days, I can honestly say our God is FAITHFUL!! The scripture Revelation 19:11 is engraved on my heart….. “I saw heaven open and there before me was a white horse whose rider is called FAITHFUL AND TRUE…And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS“. As I sit and ponder this past year, I can barely come up with words to describe God’s Grace, Lovingkindness, and His constant Faithful presence!!! Romans 8:14 has never been more real and more true, it reads, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God”…..the Amplified version reads like this, “For all WHO ARE ALLOWING THEMSELVES TO BE LED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD are the sons of God.” As we encounter “valleys” in this life, and we all do, we can choose one of two paths….we can sling shot into prayer, throwing out every scripture we’ve ever learned, declaring whatever our human hearts would want… OR, as the Scripture clearly highlights….when we are allowing ourselves to be “led” by God’s Spirit…it is THERE….that we find our answers, our directions, and our peace!! I’m often bewildered at people (especially those who know the word of God) that just jump into prayer presuming they know what to pray without BEING QUIET AND SEEKING GOD FIRST!! When we speak of “praying in the Spirit”….that does not mean we take off in a some crazy unguided spew of “tongues”, or uncharted prayer. It means…..as the Spirit of God shows us WHAT to pray…..then we pray! Example, It would be ridiculous to think that an airline pilot coming into a specific place/destination would disregard the air traffic controllers directions, disregard any words of direction, disregard other planes coming in, and just land. That would be disastrous!! It is just as ridiculous to think we can just pray whatever our human hearts think, feel, and want! Our God is FAITHFUL AND TRUE….for those that allow themselves to be led...that means stopping, waiting, and listening!! In other words…..STOP…BE QUIET!!!!….LISTEN….WAIT for direction to pray. If we don’t wait… it can lead into great disappointment and disillusionment when we assume a direction that we were never intended to travel. When we think of prayer….we think of talking to God….but LOTS of times we do ALL THE TALKING… telling God want we want, how we want things to turn out, and what the best outcome would be in our simple little minds. This leads people into throwing out random scriptures that would support THEIR DESIRED RESULTS. Thankfully thats not how it works. James teaches us in James 4:3, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss (or “wrongly” …you ask “wrongly” in another translation) “! Our prayer time should be seeking Him and letting Him direct our paths of life, answers, and our direction. Remember….(one of my favorite scriptures)….”Seek FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness (His way of doing things) and ALL these things will be added unto you!” That’s where we find our answers…in the waiting room of our soul...we allow our Father, who is all knowing, to direct our prayers!!! That is where we see HIS FAITHFULNESS AND TRUTH!! So the next valley, decision, or hardship you encounter…. don’t rush into praying presuming you know the direction to pray…..the only ONE that knows the end from the beginning is our loving Father and it is HIM who is forever Faithful and True!!
Let’s let our Air Traffic Controller (GOD) dictate….it’s much safer that way!!
