Mining
Mining …. Makes you think of treasures, hidden artifacts, digging up the unknown for answers, hidden things that can change our lives! But let’s stop and think about what a miners job is… what that might look like. A miners job is to DIG… dig for sources that are beneath the surface….that are not in plain sight… deeper than the familiar on the surface. We too, are called to be miners!! We are to mine for the treasures of God! We are not to quickly go through our devotional time, skim through our familiar or even not so familiar scriptures and waltz through our day! We are to thoroughly familiarize ourselves with the word of God! Remember the word of God is our armor, our sword in this battle with satan!!! So this is not a casual read… There is a digging, there is an effort that supersedes a casual read. God wants us to know his word, understand his word, and let his word drench the souls of our being. Why?? Why does God want us to have his word deep in our heart?? Proverbs 4 talks about the security in wisdom (the Bible tells us the word of God is wisdom). Verse 7 says “WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPAL THING; therefore get wisdom and in all you’re getting, get understanding”….Verse 10 says “here, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of your life will be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom, I have led you in right path. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered and when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction do not let go keep her, for she is your life”!! The word of God is to be looked at as a precious treasure! And God tells us in Proverbs 4 to take firm hold of it… that it is the principal thing, to keep it, for it is our very life! So instead of a casual reading of devotions, a casual listening to a teaching, let’s be the kind of miners that God expects us to be!! Let’s DIG intensely into the word of God… Digging for that wisdom, digging for those truths that will take us through life shining like the very treasure he would expect us to!! Let’s dig guys!!!!
