In the Game
Well guys…. Spring is rounding the corner. It gets me so excited thinking about running around barefoot, wearing shorts (yes, my crowd, we ride our horses in our shorts sometimes), and enjoying the Minnesota beauty! All winter long we ride outside, Carhartt and Under Armor up to our eyeballs, clunky winter boots, and wooly warm hats for 7 months. Not the best look for the grocery store on the way home. So I get a little extra zip in my step thinking about the spring and summer months ahead. Spring always makes me think about my growing up years and how much time I spent running, training, practicing to get ready for participating in all my sports (which of course I did year around…we’ll talk about excessiveness another time). Basketball and soccer were my two favorites to play. I loved playing team sports! But early on in my younger years, the one thing I determined to make sure of was that I was NEVER….EVER… GOING TO BE ON THE SIDELINES!!! I trained and trained and trained so I could always be one of “the starters”, and the player my team could always count on! I had to be in the game… I needed to play, not sit….it was just in my DNA (anyone that knows my dad knows that I’m built just like him… practice, train and get out there)!! I did not do all that training, all that running, all that weight lifting to sit on the sidelines and watch…. it just wasn’t, nor is it now, who I am.
It’s the same with our Christian walk with God. We can train, read, go to church, be a part of some kind of “life group”, but if that’s ALL you do and you never take all your training, knowledge of God, understanding of your Heavenly Father OUT INTO THE GAME OF LIFE, you are completely missing the entire crux of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We are to get ourselves OFF THE BENCH AND INTO THE GAME OF JESUS CHRIST! We are not, nor were we EVER created to sit on the sidelines of life, receive our FREE gift of Salvation, sit contentedly and merrily watch life go by! We were built to resemble our “Father”…. to actually actively “go into all the earth” and LOOK LIKE HIM and BE LIKE HIM!! There are people out in this world, in your sphere of influence that ONLY YOU can reach with the LOVE, COMPASSION, AND LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST!
So, get your “shoes of the gospel of peace” (Ephesians 6:15) on and quit sitting on the sidelines. GET IN THE GAME…..there are souls counting on you!!! Oh, and by the way, your Heavenly Father is counting on you to!!! BLESSINGS
