Doing Life Together
Happy Holiday season everyone!! What a beautiful time of the year!! This time of the year causes us to be very “relationship conscious”. What I mean by this is that through Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, as well as Valentine’s Day we are continually reminded of our relationships. Good, bad, and indifferent. When we think of this time of year we think about “giving” (hopefully), bringing love, joy, and kindness to our loved ones! Man’s greatest need ….. relationships! With this in mind, let’s talk about the crux of relationships.
Definition of Crux- “The most important issue….“
Let’s start with this…. What is the most important issue in our relationships? There is probably many different things we could say about this subject but let’s NEVER FORGET the MOST IMPORTANT issue….. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS WITHOUT CONVERSATION!! I think we would all agree that conversation is the key to “doing life together”. We hear that phrase all the time now…. let’s “Do life together”. Back in the day we didn’t have a name for our circle of friends but “doing life together” truly defines how desperately we all yearn for the simplicity of “just talking”, “just visiting, “just being together” in our own circles of family and friends.
Now, understanding and applying this idea of “doing life together”, we should come to a whole new perspective of how we view our God. Ask yourself this….”Am I doing life with God”? Is my daily life full of conversation with God (our Father) or do I just say a few things in prayer in the morning and a few things when going to bed and then try to handle the rest of the details of my day myself? I don’t know about you, but I do a lot better talking to God all day and asking Him for help and direction. I clearly don’t do well “going it alone!! Here’s a thought…..What if you and I did LIFE TOGETHER WITH GOD? Everyday, all day, all the time….driving, grocery shopping, work, laundry, kids,…. just constant conversation with the creator of the universe?? There’s a simplicity in just talking to God that makes the relationship so much deeper. Don’t over-spiritualize prayer (conversation with God) …… just talk to HIM as someone you do life with….yes that means disclose your feelings, frustrations, confusion, and every other issue under the sun. Martin Luther King once said, “to be a christian without prayer (conversation with God) is no more possible than to be alive without breathing!!!” Every breath should remind us that God (Emmanuel) is near! Every breath should remind us we can have a continuous, never ending dialogue with our God!!! All day, all the time. Our relationship with HIM should be as easy as breathing every breath!! If its not easy…..than quit trying so hard….”do life together” with God as you do life with those physically in your circle. Go into this amazing season of God’s Grace doing life with HIM!! I promise you….. it’s a lot easier than handling things yourself!!
HE IS THE KING OF KINGS….LORD OF LORDS…..RULER OVER ALL!! Glory and Praise to our Heavenly Father!!
