No Way Out

Ever feel PRESSED against a wall? Ever feel trapped, stuck, hopelessly closed in? Well, if you do, trust me most of us have experienced this!! We tend to find ourselves in these places from time to time. But, take heart….God always has a way of escape (1 Corithians 10:13)….even when it APPEARS otherwise!!!

In the book of Exodus chapter 14, God is speaking to Moses at the Red Sea as the Israelites are hopelessly trapped (closed in on every side) running from Pharaoh and his army. As you read this passage it is very important to read verses 1-4 carefully. “Then the Lord gave these instructions to Moses: Order the Israelites to turn back and camp by Pi-hahiroth between Migdol and the sea. Camp there along the shore, across from Baalzephon. Then Pharaoh will think, “The Israelites are confused. They are TRAPPED in the wilderness! And once again I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will chase after you. I HAVE PLANNED THIS IN ORDER TO DISPLAY MY GLORY through Pharaoh and his whole army. After this the Egyptians WILL KNOW that I AM THE LORD!

So the Israelites camped there as they were told.” Now picture this. The Israelites arrive in this very vulnerable place….backed into a corner, no where to turn, facing NO WAY OUT!! And remember, God commanded them to go to this place. He lead them into this vulnerable place. The Israelites were acutely aware of the intense pressure, and daunting circumstances! Verse 9 says, “The Egyptians chased after them with all the forces in Pharaoh’s army…”.

Do you ever feel like the enemy of your soul is relentlessly chasing after you with all his forces (cohorts) and you are wondering where God is in all this??

Well, let’s keep reading. In verse 13 Moses speaks up while the Isrealites are questioning Gods faithfulness and love, “But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just STAND STILL, AND WATCH THE LORD RESCUE YOU TODAY. THE EGYPTIANS YOU SEE TODAY WILL NEVER BE SEEN AGIAN. THE LORD HIMSELF WILL FIGHT FOR YOU. HOLD YOUR PEACE.” Interestingly, the word “still” here is translated as “firm”, “your ground”. And the phrase “Hold your peace” actually means…. DON’T SAY A WORD!! This place of “vulnerability” REQUIRED them to FULLY TRUST IN THEIR GOD!! God said, “Stay there and be quiet, I Got this!!!” They needed a miracle and God said, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ….I WILL HANDLE THIS!!! Verse 20 tells us that The Cloud (God) settled BETWEEN THE EGYPTIAN ENEMY CAMP AND ISRAELITES.” All their lives God’s people had been battling their own battles, but God wanted them to learn that HE WOULD FIGHT FOR THEM!!

Are you finding yourself in a cornered spot? Are you continually fighting your own battles and not allowing God in HIS INFINITE POWER AND LOVE TO FIGHT FOR YOU? Are you feeling the pressure of the enemy pressing in on you?? If you are, let’s do what Moses told the Israelites to do. “Stand still and WATCH THE LORD RESCUE YOU.” Remember, stop, stand your ground and be quiet and let GOD BE GOD in your life!! God has moved from His position of leading you to His position behind you….. standing between you and your enemy….HE IS YOUR DEFENDER, YOUR DELIVERER….YOUR GOD AND HE IS FAITHFUL!!!! REJOICE, because God is taking over!!!!!!! He’s got this…….AND HE GETS ALL THE GLORY!!!

2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for MY STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT IN YOUR WEAKNESS”
