To KNOW HIM
Howdy everyone….Spring is on the way!! So excited!!
So I am compelled to speak to the parents and grandparents today concerning the “fruit” of their lives. Remember, when we defer to the Bible as our source of truth…. well, then what God says is what God means!! So let’s look at what God says! The scripture reference of course in Galatians 5:22 reminds us what that fruit should look like!! With that in mind, let’s chat a little about this.
When I first started homeschooling my three daughters back in 2002, My main intent (God’s main intent) was that our children would truly come to know Jesus personally themselves! Not just speak it, but actually LIVE IT!! It was my passion for my family to KNOW Jesus and pour into this world! As a family we actually wanted to resemble and characterize the Christianity that the Bible teaches us. There was too much “stuff”, too much topically teaching, too much….. “speak this, speak that” and JESUS was this vague image out on the outskirts of all the messages. This grieved my heart! SO, the Lord directed me to start with Ephesians 3:19, “That I may really come to KNOW PRACTICALLY, through experience FOR MYSELF the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge without experience; that I would be filled through all of my being unto all the fullness of God that I have the richest measure of His Divine presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself.” It was here that I believe God showed us Himself. We learned that it was in that place of knowing HIM that the world would see HIM and HIS goodness flow out of our lives!
So, this is where we began our homeschooling….CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT (Jesus Style). Everything we studied, read, talked about, and lived was constantly and consistently pointing back to Jesus. His Love, His kindness, His gentleness, His patience etc etc etc… get where I’m going? It is so very true what the word of God says in Matthew 12:34, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks”. As we KNOW Him better, His words and life will pour out of our very being! If you, your spouse, and your children are “filled through all of your being unto all the fullness of God and have the richest measure of HIS DIVINE PRESENCE, and are WHOLLY FILLED AND FLOODED WITH GOD HIMSELF”….. Well, that is when you will truly display the “Fruit of the Spirit”! It is in the “KNOWING” Him that changes us and changes the world around us!
How do we both as individuals and as families “KNOW” Him? It’s pretty simple guys….. just speak from your heart …. from you to God….
“My Father…. I truly long to intimately know you. I want to experience and know your character and who you are to me and my family and to this world. Show me and teach me!”
Take the time to read and absorb Ephesians 3:19 (Amplified Version) everyday. It literally will take you seconds to read this scripture out loud! And read it out loud….here yourself declare this prayer!! I promise….He will show you Himself! Let’s intentionally properly represent God in who He truly is! His Fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. For without this most important piece (knowing HIM)…. it’s just a bunch of worthless knowledge. Knowledge does not have the ability to save and redeem ONLY OUR LORD AND SAVIOR CAN DO THAT!!!!!
