The Obscure Life

Hey Gang….this nugget will be short and sweet…but very crucial to our growth in God!

So I have been having quite the time studying the life of Elijah! There’s always so much to learn from the lives and journeys of the men and women of the Bible! So with that said,  I would like to share a little somethin’ with you that I think God would really like us all to understand!

I recently have been reading (again) in the word of God about Elijah’s life as a prophet and how God trained him and used him.  Along with the scriptures,  I have been reading a book, “Elijah, a Man of Heroism and Humility” by Chuck (Charles) Swindoll. This is an amazing read…..I’ve read this book before, actually I’ve read his whole series on the “Great lives from God’s word”. Check them out….amazing wisdom for the building of character!! But, I’m back….again….for another review! God often does that when there’s more to learn…..which….well, obviously, never….ever….ever….ends!!!

When you pick up on the life of Elijah …. he enters out of nowhere! And not only does he come out of the woodwork but he has been mandated by God to go and stand before a king that “did evil in the sight of the LORD, more than all who were before him.” 1 Kings 17 picks it up …..”And Elijah, the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.”  That’s it…that’s where he comes in…..no proclamation of some big time educated guy coming to speak, no stellar pedigrees, no highly sought after, finely forged man of God….. just this guy….this guy from pretty much nowhere. Now if you study this you will find that being a Tishbite …from Tishbeh indicated….um pretty much nothing, nowhere! Yea, Tishbeh isn’t even on the map! It’s exact location isn’t even know! Now that sets us up for a pretty interesting study!!

Here’s the short and sweet about this gang….. you may not have the degree, the polished training, the refined manners, or the cheerleader posse encouraging you along, but let me tell you this…. if you passion to serve the Lord your God, you love Him and want to walk in what He’s called you to walk in….well, get ready…cuz the Bible is FULL of unmarked, unnoticed , unrefined, UNKOWN men and women of God that come in OUT OF NOWHERE and change the world they live in!!

So let me encourage you to continue to seek Him, love Him, follow Him and you will find yourself smack in the middle of doing some amazing things!! He is at work….He has not forgotten you…He has been preparing you for amazing things that only you (you from NOWHERE) can do for Him!!
