Retirement Celebration

You’re Invited!!

Yes. You are cordially invited to my Retirement Party!!  Yep! I’m retiring…..I’m done, I’m finished, I’m through…..yessssss! Finally!!!

I’m retiring myself….. FROM MYSELF!!

Do you ever just get to the point where you’re SO done with yourself?? Done with the place you find yourself in,  done with your decisions you’ve made?? Just DONE!!! I joke around all the time about ME “being the boss of me” ….and I have to ask myself, how’s that workin’ for ya Sheryl??  Ya see, sometimes …I mean in some cases a lot of the times, we get going, we get running, we get doing, and we end up hitting the wall in exasperation and wonder why we are frustrated. Why we are exhausted, why we are seriously lacking in the fruit of the Spirit??

Well, guess what? If you take a moment and look in the rearview mirror it might explain a lot! Here’s the deal….. God NEVER EVER asked YOU to be the boss of YOU!!  Many of you probably know this verse but let’s really let it sink in today. Proverbs 3:5-7 tells us, “TRUST IN THE LORD with all your heart; DO NOT DEPEND on your own understanding. SEEK HIS WILL (HIS DECISIONS FOR YOUR LIFE) in ALL you do, and HE will SHOW YOU WHICH PATH TO TAKE. Verse 7 continues with, “DON’T BE IMPRESSED WITH YOUR OWN WISDOM”!!!!!  What’s God telling us here?? (Remember He’s your loving FATHER). He’s saying…..I got this if you’d JUST LET ME!!! 

If you have been calling the shots, making the decisions, both big and small, (by the way there is no small decision making when God is suppose to be ruling and reigning in your life), then guess what, your headed for some serious FRUSTRATION!!! How do I know this??? Well seriously, I am a pro at “Being the BOSS OF ME“!!!  For the record, that’s not a good trait guys!! Some people may see it as “being strong, independent, driven, and even ambitious. BUT GOD, on the other hand, sees it as prideful and yes, disobedient!

If we take a look at Isaiah 46:10 the chapter is sub-titled “Babylon’s False gods”. That title is a good indicator that there is a FALSE GOD somewhere that needs to be disposed of.  What does that have do with “being the boss of myself”? Well, God’s word is CLEAR….. there shall be “NO OTHER GOD’S BEFORE ME”. A”god” is ANYTHING THAT EXALTS ITSELF ABOVE GOD OUR FATHER! When we make ourselves the BOSS ….. He is not! It’s an idle and we are to dispose of it! The scripture says, “ONLY I CAN TELL YOU THE FUTURE BEFORE IT EVEN HAPPENS. EVERY THING I PLAN WILL COME TO PASS, FOR I DO WHATEVER I WISH”. The King James version says, “Declaring the end from the beginning”. Picture it this way. Everyone uses their navigation/GPS these days. Do you ever find yourself questioning the route you’ve been given because you feel like you should be going a different direction? So instead of following something (or someone…I’m winking right now) that is reliable, knowing every detour, every traffic jam, and knowing the best route (path),  we decide to go our own way. And let’s face it, that usually doesn’t pan out too well!!

I’m not kidding you. I have done this too many times to admit!! Why would we not choose to retire ourselves from the position of “Boss” and end up WHERE, WHEN, HOW, AND WITH WHOME were suppose to??? When we look at it that way, it kinda doesn’t make any sense does it?

Let’s make a pact. Let’s join together as the body of Christ and RETIRE OURSELVES FROM OURSELVES!!! The enemy of our soul will NOT know what to do with us sitting back, not sweatin’ the route, and instead, resting in His faithfulness!!!

Lamentations 3:23, “Great is HIS FAITHFULNESS; His mercies begin afresh each morning!! HPL!!! (Hallelujah Praise the Lord!!)
