Attention Soldiers
Luke 10:17-19
“When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” “Yes, he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!” Look, I have given you authority over ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY, AND YOU CAN WALK AMONG SNAKES AND SCORPIONS AND CRUSH THEM. NOTHING WILL INJURE YOU. ”
Lets take a look at what God is trying to show us here. The word “obey” in verse 17 is taken from the word “subject to” (hupotasso in the Greek). It actually is referencing a military term meaning “to arrange under”. This paints a picture of a group of soldiers SNAPPING TO ATTENTION and FOLLOWING PRECISELY THE ORDERS OF THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER. It reminds me of a road trip into South Dakota we took more recently. Watching out the window we passed a huge field of acres and acres of sunflowers. The interesting thing about it, other than it was so spectacularly beautiful, was that EVERY SINGLE sunflower was pointing DIRECTLY, “ABOUT FACE” toward the sun! At attention! Catch that…. “about face” toward the SON! What a beautiful picture of how Satan and all his cohorts HAVE to OBEY (Hupotasso) the Maker of heaven and earth!
That’s what God is showing us in His word. As we SPEAK STANDING IN THE AUTHORITY THATS BEEN GIVEN TO US …..ALL of HEAVEN AND EARTH STANDS AT ATTENTION!!!! That means the enemy of our soul has snapped to attention and has to follow precisely your orders as a child of God. What are you commanding? Are you commanding? Are you using “ALL AUTHORITY ” that has been given to you? God is saying “you have authority, speak your commands and defeat your enemy!”
Glory to God!!!
Are you getting the picture? The word of God has made it clear that we have been given authority from our Father in Heaven. Spiritual authority is NOT a tug-of-war! Satan and God ARE NOT OF EQUAL POWER OR AUTHORITY!! But DO NOT BE DECEIVED….Satan is the father of lies….John 8:44, “When he lies, he speaks what is natural to him, for HE IS A LIAR, and the FATHER OF LIES ….” .
1 Peter 5:8, ” Be sober-minded and ALERT. Your Adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he MAY DEVOUR”! Who is our adversary looking to devour…. those that he CAN! But wait, if we have the understanding that WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN ALL AUTHORITY IN JESUS CHRIST’S name and we don’t buy into the LIE of any circumstance he throws in our path…. than we will NOT BE DEVOURED But be Victorious in Christ!
So remember, as you walk through the circumstances of life and a lie presents itself (anything contrary to what God has said for his children; peace, provision, protection, strength, etc) then stop. Take a moment to recall that picture. When you stand your ground as THE COMMANDING OFFICER, SPEAK UP (out loud) and declare the Word of the Lord and watch the enemies of your soul SNAP AT ATTENTION AND HAVE TO BOW BEFORE THE MAJESTIC, POWERFUL NAME OF JESUS!!
Get this truth in you!!! NOTHING…I mean absolutely NOTHING is above the name of JESUS!!!!
