Prayer – A Natural Place
I am one of those people that is continually reading and looking for God to speak. If you are desperate to hear God…..He will show up everywhere!! With that said, I have a newsletter that I receive every month called the Herald of his Coming (amazing articles that will both confirm the word of God in your life and help you grow in the word). This article caused me to pause ….I wanted to share this with you because it seems like life gets moving in so many different directions and sometimes we lose our footing. So here’s a little nugget for the day.
Charles Spurgeon, a great man of God, was quoted as saying, “the prayerless soul is a Christless soul.” It got me thinking…. You ever notice that when you’re in a good place of communicating with God, I mean spending time with him, reading the word, reading your devotions, just talking to Him, there is this completeness that settles in! There’s more joy, more peace, more direction! It is also true in the reverse, when you have a decline in prayerfulness or even completely abstain from prayer with your Father, your soul feels empty, directionless, and sorely lacking in purpose! We’re supposed to be communing with our Father! Our prayer life is the best measure of our growth and maturity in Jesus. The Bible teaches us to pray continually! 1 Thessalonians 5:17,”…pray without ceasing…”. Understand that the Greek words for “without ceasing” does not mean nonstop, it means constantly recurring. As we grow in grace and understanding of our Lord we grow in prayerfulness. Prayer is not measured by the length or eloquence but of a continuous, ongoing dialogue with our Father! It becomes a natural outflow in our daily lives where we consult our Lord about the things of our daily routine’s, families, destinies. I believe that we should never have to, “go into prayer” but never cease from praying! You see, the more we talk with our Father and REALLY KNOW HIM (Ephesians 3:19 Amp) better, we are then fully equipped to handle every situation! He is with us!
So if you’ve reached a prayerless place, and recognized your soul longs for peace and rest….. HE’S waiting! Talk to your Father! He’s a good Father, He’ll be there the moment you share your heart!
Take a moment….read Psalm 63 today….your “soul will be satisfied” and peace and direction will come once again!!
