Annihilating Power
The wonderful name of JESUS….
The Bible reveals to us many names of our Lord and Savior. Each name given gives us a glimpse of the character and provision of our Lord; who He is to His children.
In Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah is prophesying of the coming birth of the Savior of the world… JESUS. In this passage it tells us a few of those names….. “And His name will be called WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE.” Our Lord is also referred to as THE GOOD SHEPHERD, SAVIOR, REDEEMER, MESSIAH, THE WAY, LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, RESCUER, PROTECTOR, DELIVERER, LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS! How’s that for someone who is standing in your corner? Ya, not too bad!
So I found myself wakened in the middle of the night last night and was urged to pray. As I made my way to my prayer closet (yes its actually a closet -no distractions there) I knew who I was to be praying for but I really wasn’t sure how or what to pray. Do you ever go to pray and just have no words? Maybe it’s a subject you’ve been talking to God about for a long time and are completely exasperated and have nothing. Ya know that saying, “I got nothin'”? Well, I sat before God and all I could say was “I GOT NOTHIN”!!! Immediately I felt prompted to speak the name JESUS…over and over again. As I began speaking I could tell in my spirit what God was showing me. As I spoke JESUS…the Holy Spirit showed me the annihilation that happened! It was like a tornado wiping out EVERYTHING in its path. Every time I spoke JESUS, I actually said, “RESCUER! PROTECTOR! DELIVERER! MY GOOD SHEPHERD! COUNCELOR! LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS! PRINCE OF PEACE! MY LORD GOD ALMIGHTY! Each time wiping out the darkness that surrounded this situation.
My God, My God, the power we have in the name of JESUS! That was my prayer….JESUS! And in that one and only name… DARKNESS BOWS!! I think sometimes we go into prayer with our battle gear on and we start swingin’ our swords around and forget that it is not us that defeats the enemy of our souls… but HIM!! Yes, we put on our Armor! Yes, we speak the word of God concerning our situations! Yes, we stand in faith (trust)! But it is HE that takes the victory for us!!
Sometimes we have to quit all the “stuff” we know to do and let God do what God does best….LOVE AND PROTECT HIS CHILDREN!! I pray this helps you pause when going to pray and remember the annihilating power in our Lord and Savior’s name….JESUS!!
How powerful! Thanks for sharing. I will meditate on these truths and expect for the Holy Spirit to give me greater revaluation of the power in the name of Jesus!! The Name above every name!! Thank you for your faithfulness. Love you friend!!!
