How Long Lord??
Ever hear, or worse yet, say that ridiculous saying “Well, all we can do is pray now”? As if God in His omnipotent (unlimited power) and omniscient (all knowing) power has little to offer us in time of need??
UGH! That is soooooo frustrating to hear!!
As sons and daughters of the “LAMB OF GOD, PRINCE OF PEACE, COUNSELOR,THE GOOD SHEPHERD, SAVIOR, REDEEMER, DELIVERER, MESSIAH, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (just a few of the names of God), doesn’t it seem ridiculous that prayer would be the last resort rather than the first impulse?? I believe many people, including christians ….go at it alone…problem solve from a place of their own understanding. The problem with “going it alone”, not praying and asking God for help and direction, is that we sorely lack the wisdom to do it ourselves.
Shouldn’t prayer be the VERY FIRST thing that we do? If we really do believe with CHILD LIKE expectation that our Heavenly Father hears our prayers and is at work on our behalf wouldn’t we immediately run to our Father for help? Understand that when Adam and Eve fell, dominion on the earth was forfeited to satan. Satan has dominion ON THIS EARTH. When disasters, calamities, accidents and heartache happen on this earth it is NOT OUR FATHERS doing! Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places”.
Let’s take a look at a passage that can help us have some insight as to “WHY” it can take time for our prayers to manifest. In Daniel 10:12-14, Daniel had prayed for help and understanding and this is what is recorded in the scriptures… “Then he (an angel) continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. SINCE THE FIRST DAY THAT YOU BEGAN TO PRAY FOR UNDERSTANDING AND TO HUMBLE YOURSELF BEORE YOUR GOD, YOUR REQUEST HAS BEEN HEARD IN HEAVEN. BUT FOR TWENTY-ONE DAYS THE SPIRIT PRINCE OF THE KINGDOM OF PERSIA BLOCKED MY WAY. THEN MICHAEL ONE OF THE ARCHANGELS, CAME TO HELP ME, AND I LEFT HIM THERE WITH THE SPIRIT PRINCE OF THE KINGDOM OF PERSIA….”. Here’s a perfect example of Ephesians 6:12 …”we do not wrestle against flesh and blood BUT against principalities,… against spiritual hosts of wickedness IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES”!! The enemy of our souls does everything in his power to BLOCK your answered prayers. The angel of God was sent out immediately in response to Daniels prayer.
DON’T GIVE UP!! Remember, we are in a battle…we’ve been given the armor of God for a reason! We’ve also been given the privilege to go straight to our heavenly Father for help through prayer! Take your burdens to Him…First! PRAY OVER EVERYTHING! KNOW THAT YOUR LOVING FATHER IS AT WORK… DON’T QUIT OR GET DISCOURAGED….GOD’S GOT THIS!!!!
