Superficiality…. it’s the flavor of the day. The agenda of instant gratification and instant satisfaction is the tragic state of both the secular world and sad to say the Christian world as well. The apostle Paul writes in the book of Philippians 3:10, ” for my determined purpose is that I may know Him- that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of his person more strongly and more clearly…”
Ask yourself this… What is your determined purpose as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ? Read Paul’s words, let them saturate your soul, write them down, stop, sit and actually absorb the words he writes “that I may know Him Progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with him, perceiving, Recognizing, Understanding, Continually transformed”. Are you satisfied with the superficial? Satisfied with just going to church, joining A little group, going to the church picnic?? Or would you like a fresh encounter with God? Is your soul calling out to the deeper things of God? I’m finding these days that I’m encouraged by the Holy Spirit to spend a lot less energy and time pursuing all the humanly impressive accomplishments of the day and a lot more energy and time cultivating my intimate relationship with my Lord and Savior!!!
