Holy Spirit- My Helper
John 14:26 (Amp)
“But the helper, (Comforter, advocate, intercessor – counselor, strengthener, standby), The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, ( In my place, to represent Me, and act on My behalf), He will TEACH you all things. And He will HELP YOU remember everything that I have told you.”
Sometimes there are times in our lives where we get stuck, we get confused, and we can get frustrated in trying to do the will of God, trying to follow the will of God, or just plain puzzled trying to know what God really wants you to do IN a certain situation or ABOUT a certain situation.
The Bible tells us in John 14:26 that we have been given the Holy Spirit who is our helper, comforter, advocate, intercessor, counselor, strengthener, standby”.
Helper is defined as to relieve a person in want, trouble or DISTRESS. Comforter is defined as to EASE the SORROW or grief of, to HELP SUPPORT. Advocate is defined as to speak or write in favor of publicly, DEFENDER. Intercessor is defined as a person who INTERCEDES with God on behalf of men. Counselor is defined as ADVISOR. Strengthener is defined as to MAKE STRONGER, reinforce power to resist, ENDURE, power derived from authority. Standby is defined as a person that can be RELIED UPON, chief support.
Sometimes in our journey with God we can lose sight of the very things that he has spoken to our hearts. It’s easy to get confused, It’s easy to get tired, it’s easy to start to lose hope. But we have been sent a helper from heaven, the Holy Spirit! And the Bible tells us that He is ever present and waiting to help! If we look at the definition of who the Holy Spirit is to us we can all be assured of our faith and the things God has spoken truly to our hearts! Remember Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith… The Holy Spirit has been sent to help us to walk out the very plan and story God has for each of our lives. If your’re needing some direction, some answers…. go to the only ONE that can help, defend, intercede for us, advise, strengthen and rely on….Jesus! Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal and illuminate what you are to do, what direction you need to take….HE WILL LEAD….this isn’t something we are suppose to “figure out” on our own…God wants us to rely on HIM! Usually when we go it alone…things don’t turn out so well or least we don’t find ourselves where God intended us to be. Trust the Holy Spirit within you. What has He spoken to your heart? what has He shown you about your situation? Remember it….because He does and HE WILL COMPLETE WHAT HE STARTED!!!
