Armor- Helmet of Salvation
Ephesians 6:17
“….take the helmet of salvation ”
First, let’s make it clear that Salvation is given to us by the Grace of God- it’s an offer, a gift, made to us that we respond to….Have you made Jesus your Lord and Savior?? Because THAT and only that saves your soul!! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in HIM should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Now, Going back to the Roman regiment….
The HELMET protects the roman soldiers head in battle….. remember we ARE in a battle with the “principalities and powers , against the rulers of darkness “. (v12) in the scriptures the helmet represents protection of the mind!
Satan will besiege our minds with things like mistrust and fear! Mistrust in God leads to mistrust in our spouses, friends, relationships of all kinds!!!!!
It robs us of the REAL relationships that God intended us to have for both our own personal lives and our destinies (Gods plan) we are called to!!!
We are called to protect our minds… our thoughts and attitudes…. RE- EDUCATE your mind to think like God thinks ….
He thinks your worth it, He thinks you are valuable, He thinks you matter….
Remember, WE are to get into the Word of God and begin to know and realize the promises He has for us. It’s not your Pastor’s job to get that word into you, it’s not your spouses job, it’s not anyone’s job BUT YOURS! Open up your Bible and see what God has to say about You, your life, and your situation. Fill your head (mind) with God’s word ….”they are life to those that find them and health to all your flesh” (Proverbs 4:22) this will begin to cultivate your trust in Him!
WE NEED TO GET THIS DOWN DEEP INTO OUR HEARTS…. Remember also, whatever we are letting absorb into our hearts is what we believe!! Let’s decide to believe what God’s word says! Let’s diligently protect our minds so when the battle is on…..we ALREADY have our helmets on and are ready for the victory!!
