God Loves Bummers!

“Bummer ” …we use this word on a regular basis …the definition of bummer is ” used to express FRUSTRATION, DISAPPOINTMENT and typically SYMPATHETIC” this word has a profound teaching behind it.
Here’s a little something for ya …. every once in awhile an Ewe will give birth to a lamb and immediately reject it. There are various reasons why; sometimes because they are one of twins and the mother doesn’t have enough milk, sometimes the mothers is just too old and tired etc. These little lambs are called BUMMER LAMBS. Unless the shepherd intervenes, the lamb will die. The shepherd will take the little lamb into his home hand feed him from a bottle, keep him warm and wrap him up and hold him close to his heart so the little lamb can hear the heartbeat of the shepherd! When the lamb is strong enough the shepherd will place him back in the field with the rest of the flock.
Interestingly, when the shepherd goes out to call his sheep The first ones to pop up and run for the shepherd are the BUMMER lambs -the ones that know his voice so well and have experienced a closeness with him, and KNOW HIS HEART BEAT (that’s another message 😃) … the ones that were originally REJECTED AND UNCARED FOR…. these are the first ones to pop up and run for the shepherd,
Jesus is called our good shepherd ….John 10:3-4 ” He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he gathers his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.”
Do you ever feel like you probably frustrate God or that you are a complete disappointment to Him??? Remember part of the definition is to be typically sympathetic… Hebrews 4:15-16 says
” for we do not have a high priest(Jesus) who cannot SYMPATHIZE with our weaknesses…Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace (Jesus Christ) , that we may obtain MERCY and find GRACE to help in the time of need.”
Do you ever feel like your just a complete BUMMER?? Well take heart Jesus sympathizes with us…. as we draw near to Him, let Him comfort us, take care of us, and rest knowing He’s got us and our situations, you will emerge KNOWING His voice and love beyond any “perfect” lamb!! News flash – NO ONES PERFECT!!!! 🙃
I don’t know about you but that is really good news to me! In God’s eyes … we are made perfect and complete!!!
No matter how much we mess up, no matter how much of a disappointment we think we are …. remember it’s not a bad thing to be a BUMMER LAMB – we know Him best!! SELAH!
